In everyday life, plastic does play a lot. Not just plastic bags, but forks, spoons, drink bottles, and so forth.
Friends of Seven who work in an office must often use plastic as a wrapper for hot food for lunch. This is considered normal but we need to be careful because the consequences are bad for health.
Plastic is made from petroleum with a mixture of various chemicals that are toxic. Research shows that all forms of plastic can release various chemicals when heated. Some chemicals can be released when the plastic is in contact with high temperature objects such as adipate, phthalate, Bisphenol-A (BPA).
Here are some health risks that can arise from exposure to chemicals:
- Fetal disorders in the womb, disorders of the male reproductive system, and testicular cancer.
- Phthalates which can interfere with the formation of male reproductive hormones, lower testosterone and lower sperm counts and are of poor quality.
- Because the effects of BPA resemble the hormone estrogen, the type of cancer that is most suspected of the result is breast cancer. BPA is also believed to cause impaired fetal brain development. A study found that pregnant women with high levels of BPA in their urine are more prone to have hyperactive children, or worries and cause depression.
The age groups most at risk for adverse effects are the fetus, baby, and children because they are related to the process of growth and development.
Well, Friends Seven can use glass or ceramic containers and food-grade food and beverage containers as an alternative to plastic.
It does look more complicated, but the choice goes back to ourselves. Reducing plastic waste means that Sahabat Seven also participates in preserving our earth. If Friends of Seven choose which one?
