Here are some tips that you can follow if you want to make batik or other patterns for your roll roll:
1. Print a pattern
You need to print the pattern you want on paper, print the size of the pattern according to the size of the cake you want. Place it on the bottom of the pan and then top with Baking Paper Seven. Paint the patterns using colorful dough. No need to spread butter because with Baking Paper Seven, your roll roll will be smooth apart and not sticky.
2. Steamed not roasted
The baking process makes the surface of the brown sponge. Besides that the texture of the baked sponge is drier so it is susceptible to damage when rolled.
3. Twice steaming
Constraints that are often encountered are batik patterns that widen so that the appearance becomes less attractive. After the batik pattern is finished painted on the bottom of the pan, steam for a while for five minutes until the cake layer is denser. After that, replace with the remaining batter and steam as usual until cooked. That way, batik patterns on the surface of the sponge will be neater and not overflow.
4. It is rolled hot
Hot sponge cake has a texture that is flexible so that it is easy to roll, whereas sponge with a lower temperature will be vulnerable to breaking and more difficult to form. For that, you should shortly after the sponge is cooked, immediately rub the inside of the sponge with jam or whipped cream then roll it until solid.
